Ravensthorpe trout fishery to open 1 March

The first of Anglian Water’s four reservoir trout fisheries will open for the new season on Friday 1 March.

This popular Northamptonshire venue has a national reputation for its big fish, catch and release fishing and float tubing, an exciting method of fishing from an inflatable chair as an alternative to boat fishing.

Anglian Water fishery manager Jon Marshall said ‘ I expect this to be one of the best seasons at Ravensthorpe with many more three pounders and quite a few in double figures with the chance of beating the existing record of 12lbs-6ozs.

Releasing your catch is becoming more popular and we have a new Sporting permit priced at just £14 for a full day for these anglers. Ravensthorpe has the highest catch rate of any of our fisheries. Last year anglers averaged nearly 5 per return and we are aiming for even better fishing this year.’

Prices for 2002, Day permit £17 (2fish and catch & release), Sporting permit £14, Motor boat hire £18, Rowing boats £10. Reductions for part-day and single manned boats.

Season permits which also enable you to fish at Pitsford, Grafham and Rutland Water offer tremendous value and range from £160 to £649 depending upon how often you want to fish and how many trout you want to take and include other advantages for regular anglers. Details will be available early in February.

Information and pre-season boat bookings from the Pitsford Lodge 01604 781350 open Friday to Monday each week.

Other opening dates:

Pitsford Water 15 March, Grafham Water 23 March, Rutland Water 28 March
