ELINOR Trout Fishery

Elinor is a fifty acre, spring fed lake open from 7am till one hour after sunset, February 24th to December 31st 2001. There are 1 1/2 miles of accessible bank fishing and a fleet of 16 boats all at reasonable prices. Only very simple Fishery rules apply. The water is located just off the A605 to Peterborough close to the A14. A new toilet block has been added this year.

Weekly stocking with top quality rainbows provides consistent sport throughout the season. 2000 was the best ever season at Elinor with nearly 24,688 trout being caught of which almost 12,000 were released. Catch and release has been encouraged for many years now. The last three seasons has seen a trend of many more anglers just keeping one or two fish for the pot and returning any others they are lucky enough to catch. This has resulted in a large increase in the number of grown on fish caught with some good records. Minimum stock size for rainbows is 1 1/4lbs. In 2001 they will also stock with some brown trout.

The Elinor trout thrive on the rich feeding available, particularly buzzers, corixa, olives, sedges, daphnia and huge hatches of damsels. You can e-mail the water direct at elinortf@aol.com or click for address and phone details
