Introduction

Ravensthorpe is the oldest of our Northamptonshire reservoirs, and is situated in peaceful surroundings in a sheltered valley well away from major roads. Fishing is from the bank or from rowing boats although there are a small number of quiet electric powered motors also available.

The Victorian fishing lodge has a small fishing tackle shop and facilities for providing hot drinks.

Fishery Records

Brown Trout

This record was set in 2000 by club angler Tim Smith. He was fishing a detached body green buzzer and gave an excellent 50 minutes fight. The tail was like a shovel and was a truly grown on Fish.

10lbs 2ozs caught by Tim Smith in 2000.

Rainbow Trout

The 12lbs 6ozs fish caught by Paul Moore in 1996 was beat in 2000 by a magnificent rainbow weighing 13lb caught by Graham Williams, a Ravensthorpe regular from Swavesey, Cambs. Graham took this super fish on an appetiser on an intermediate line, 100 yards off the fishing lodge whilst fishing in the fur and feather match on 5th November 2000.

Float tubing

Ravensthorpes other claim to fame is float tubing. A rubber tyre and frogmans outfit allows you to get really close to the fish.

All the necessary equipment is available for hire at £7.00 per day, or £4.00 for half a day, including tuition.
